Bounce Swing Festival! The fourth edition will be May 1-4, 2025. A weekend of big emotions with Lindy hop, Balboa, Authentic Jazz e Blues workshops, special evening events, 12 international teachers, live bands, and many dancers with whom you can share the joy of the festival, which we predict will be amazing.

WORKSHOP | BSF 2025

lindy hop

16 hours divided in 13 thematic classes. It will be possible to choose classes from your own specified level and lower. There are 4 Levels: Improvers, Intermediate and Advance. To the latter it is possible to have access (subject to availability) by sending us an email with a description about you and about your swing experience.

balboa

13 hours and half divided in 11 thematic classes. It will be possible to choose classes from your own specified level and lower. There are 4 Levels: Improver, Intermediate and Advanced. Please, in order to make easier the arrangements, read carefully the description for each level written in the Workshop section.

solo track

5 hours divided in 4 thematic classes. It will be possible to choose classes from your own specified level and lower. There are 2 Levels: Improvers and Intermediate/Advanced. It will be possible to integrate them with other disciplines in order to create a personalized workshop program.

MUSICALITY

A total of 2 and a half hours divided into 2 thematic lessons. It will be possible to choose between the specific lesson for Lindy Hop and the specific one for Balboa.

blues

5 hours divided in 4 thematic classes. There are 2 Levels: Improvers and Intermediate/Advance. It will be possible to integrate them with other disciplines in order to create a personalized workshop program.

aerials

A total of 2 and a half  hours divided into 2 themed lessons. There are two levels: Open and Intermediate/Advance. If you want to make your dance spectacular, you can integrate the Aerials themed lessons with other disciplines to create a personalized workshop program. 

CHOOSE FROM THE 32 THEMATIC LESSONS
AND CREATE YOUR WORKSHOP!

Up to 12 and a half  hours of classes, with the option “create your own pack”, where you can choose which class to follow based on the topic and the level you are mostly interested in. 

To simplify the understanding of the following cards, follow the colors!

How to “CREATE YOUR PACKAGE”:

  1. CHOOSE HOW MANY HOURS OF CLASSES YOU WANT TO FOLLOW: 1 CLASS (1.25 h), 2 CLASSES (2,5h), 4 CLASSES (5h), 6 CLASSES (7,5 hours), 8 CLASSES (10h) or 10 CLASSES (12,5h).
  2. IDENTIFY YOUR LEVEL: read carefully  the descriptions of the different levels and choose the most suitable one for you.This level will be the basis to compone your pack (you can choose classes for your selected level or lower, NOT superior).
  3. PICK YOUR CLASSES: for each hour of class teachers, level and topic that will be explored, are indicated are indicated in the schedule.
  4. POLISH THE SHOES AND PREPARE FOR DANCING! Now it’s a down deal!

WHAT IS MY LEVEL?

There will not be any audition for the admission to the different levels. It is, therefore, very important that you choose the level that suits you.

In order to choose your level, read the sheet below carefully.

In case of doubt, ask your own teacher who will advise you properly.

Festival levels are slightly different from the level of the weekly courses you follow at your own dance school, and they are different from festival to festival.

You have been attended a regular class for at least 6 months 1 year ; you are familiar with the basic moves, both eight and six counts, such as Swing out, lindy circle, tuck turn, and you show them on social dance. You want to improve your basics and add new moves to your repertoire.

You have been dancing for at least one-two years, and you attend regular classes and parties. You can lead the more basic moves such as Swing out, Texas Tommy, inside turns, outside turns, lindy-charleston basic, tandem, hand to hand. If you follow, you show off your swivels every time you can. You are starting to improvise on the music and adding jazz steps. You want to enhance your leading and/or following technique, and you are beginning to work on your musicality and interpretation. 

You have regularly been dancing for at least three years, and you attended national and international festivals and workshops. You can easily dance on any rhythms (slow and fast), and you improvise on the music.  Your lead and follow clear and smooth, and you know different variations.You can’t count the number of lindy hop and jazz moves, you know. You want something more than the simple steps and styling, and you want to work on advanced techniques, musicality, and improvisation. In this level, the dance and the technique in a more complex and demanding ways. 

You have been regularly attending Balboa classes for at least six months to 1 year. You can lead/follow: Single Time (down holds) and Double Time Basic (up holds), Come Around, Lollies, Out And Ins.  You have developed the right balance and don’t need to hold on to your partner for balance. You can keep a steady pulse, also on the slows. You can dance the basics on the spot and travelling. You want to improve your basics and add new moves to your repertoire.

You have been regularly attending Balboa classes for at least 1-2 year. You are comfortable to lead and follow the basic (down holds and up hold) and Throw Out, Inside Turn, Outside Turns, Reverse Turn, Twist Breaks, Paddles, Crab Walks.  You start to use footwork variations like Shuffles and Kicks, and you can use them in social dance. You can switch effortless between Pure Bal and Bal-Swing in a dance.

You have been regularly attending Balboa classes for at least 3 years, and you attended at various national and international festivals and workshops. You feel comfortable both in pure balboa and in Bal Swing.  You can dance in every tempo. You can do footwork variations like Fans, Toe Turns, Hesitations, and Kick Ball Changes. You can shuffle and multi-shuffle on various beats. You can play with rhythmical changes. In this level, the dance and the technique in a more complex and demanding ways.

You have been dancing blues for at least 6 months. You know the basics well and would like to improve your dancing, connection with your partner and musicality.

You have taken a blues class for at least a year, and you dance it regularly on social dance nights. You know the main figures, different bases, as well as Juke Joint movements so you can interpret the music while playing along with your dance partner.. 

Open level! You have just started studying Solo Jazz or you have not tried yet and want to enrich your knowledge of steps and interpretation on the dance floor. Knowledge of some jazz steps and/or Shim Sham is recommended.

You have attended or are attending a Solo Jazz course in the past and want to continue to study this discipline in depth. You have acquired a strong personal interpretation, and you are able to improvise on music with passion and fun. Knowledge of some jazz routines (Shim Sham, Tranky Doo, Trickeration) and the basic steps of the Charleston are required. 

You have been dancing for at least 6 months and would like to have a first approach with basic aerial figures, to be able to give your dance that extra touch of “vibrancy”. You will learn the right technique to be able to safely perform lifts and jumps. For safety reasons, partners will not be rotated during the workshop.

You have been dancing for at least two years and attend classes and social dance regularly. You know the main figures of Lindy Hop and Charleston and have already participated in intermediate/advanced level workshops. You feel confident with faster rhythms and think you are ready to measure yourself with slightly more complex acrobatic figures. For safety reasons, partners will not be rotated during the workshop.

      • Enjoy your Charleston                
        Learn to dance relaxed to fast-paced music with a good old-style kick.
      • Power your Swing out 
        We will work on the most beloved and technical movement of Lindy Hop to make it smooth and straightforward.
      • Sugar Push   
        In this class you will deep dive in the Sugar Push one of the basic Lindy Hop moves that introduces dancers to the concept of compression and release. In this lesson, dancers will learn how to create a smooth and balanced connection between leader and follower, keeping the rhythm and managing space with controlled and fluid movements. 

      • Connection and fluidity
        We are gonna explore a beautiful world of unique connection between two lindy hop dancers and the fluid movement they can create with it.
      • Fast Swing Out 
        In this lesson you will learn to maintain connection and control of movement even with a fast pace, working on technique, energy and precision to not lose fluidity and fun in the dance.
      • Swing Improvisation
        In this class, you’ll explore how to add personal flair and spontaneity to your dancing, learning to express yourself freely while staying connected to the music and your partner.
      • Tandem variations 
        Explore the exciting dynamics of tandem movement in Lindy Hop! This class invites you to discover a new level of connection and coordination with your partner through captivating and engaging tandem variations.
      • Jigs walks
        Explore and enhance one of the most underrated yet authentic rhythmic foundations of Lindy Hop. Discover its versatility and how to integrate it into your Lindy Hop at different speeds. Additionally, you’ll learn exciting and fun variations that will increase the variety in your dancing.
      • Solo Jazz steps in your Lindy
        This class will take you on a journey through a variety of Solo Jazz steps, teaching you iconic movements and rhythmic sequences that seamlessly blend with Lindy Hop. We will explore creatively incorporating these steps into your partner dance, enriching your repertoire and allowing you to express yourself uniquely
      • Fast Social Lindy
        It’s the end of the week, you want to dance to the fastest songs without feeling exhausted. Dance socially, not in a jam, enjoying the moment with your partner and having time to breathe. This is your class!
      • Syncopation in Your Dance
        In this class, we will explore the magic of the syncopated step in Lindy Hop, learning to play with timing, create intriguing contrasts, and deepen your understanding of swing music. You will refine your sense of rhythm and discover new ways to incorporate syncopation into your dancing.
      • Accelerate Your Dance
        Add some acceleration at different moments in your dance to change the energy.
      • “We love lollies and Turns”
        Rediscover one of the most iconic of Balboa with ideas to play with. Add turns in between and add the come around to start and finish up. You will love this class!
      • Enjoy the Come Around”
        Come and learn how to make the classic Balboa figure, happen! Improve your technique with variations and additional footwork. In a short time, you will be able to glide around the floor doing some simple but cool footwork.
      • Toss Out Bonanza!”
        Dig deeper into the Toss Out. Add some spice and decoration with different handholds and leads. 
      • Fancy Rhythms”
        Add some fancy rhythms at different moments in your dance to change the energy and flow.
      • Reverse your toss out”
        Use momentum and flow to reverse the Toss Out and create fun turns and variations.
      • Gems from the old timers”
        We will draw inspiration from steps of the Old Timers Balboa dancers to improve our dance and make it increasingly fluid. Get ready to travel!
      • “Pivots”
        How to improve your pivot technique and add some variations to that.
      • Pure Bal Flow”
        Explore the nuanced world of Balboas middle to fast range improving variation, musicality and partnership
      • “Fast Bal Swing”
        We will work on improving the technique for faster tempos, maintaining the right flow, and feeling completely comfortable.
      • Shine Steps”
        Find out how you can change your own texture of steps and incorporate fun and exciting sliding movements that can diversify your balboa interpretation.

        Quality of movement exercises to make your dancing look and feel even better.

      • “Catches”
        Capturing the perfect moment to redirect a movement while maintaining its flow. In this class, you will learn some of the most common “catches” to make your blues dancing even more varied and enjoyable to perform and watch.
      • Juke Joint Blues”
        This class will take you back in time, straight to the bustling juke joints of the Mississippi Delta, where African Americans partied late into the night. Freedom of movement, energy, and rhythm. You’ll learn the basic steps and the signature moves of the Juke Joint style.
      • “Chicago Blues”
        Did you know that the triple step exists in blues dancing too? In this class, we will learn to recognize Chicago blues by listening to the music and explore the basic steps of the dance style associated with it.
      • Turns, walking with flow”
        Fluidity is the foundation of this class, focusing on transitioning seamlessly between rotational and linear movements.
      • Solo Dance -Blues
        Feel the groove and let the music guide you. In this class, you’ll learn some foundational movements of the blues “alphabet,” working individually.
      • Authentic Jazz steps
        Do you miss any solo moves? Let’s go again through the repertoire of authentic jazz steps
      • “Solo and together!”
        Explore ways of dancing solo together with other people – Jam, trade phrases and dance at parties.
      • “Upgrade your Charleston!”
        Take your Charleston to the next level with new steps, variations, and stylish details. Discover creative ways to enhance your performance, refine your technique, and make your dance more dynamic and expressive. Perfect for those with a solid foundation who want to elevate their Charleston skills!

      • “Aerials easy lifts”
        This lesson is perfect for those who want to take their first steps into the jumps and lifts typical of “Air steps,” so beloved by Swing Era dancers.
      • “Knickerbocker Flip”
        A highly anticipated lesson where, through learning the right technique, the leader can guide the follower in performing one of the most well-known acrobatic moves. No partner rotation is planned in this class.

The 2024 Bounce Swing Festival will take place at Hotel Terme Millepini in via Catajo 42, in Montegrotto Terme. We are in the heart of the Euganean Hills Regional Park, known all over the world for its landscapes, its food and wine delicacies but above all for its
extraordinary spas.
The hotel will host all the parties and
classes, and is about one km away from the railway station “Terme Euganee Abano-Montegrotto Terme”. The Hotel Spa offers many facilities: thermal water swimming pools,

jacuzzis, Kneipp path, a grotto with natural thermal vapors, aromatherapy showers and much more. A great opportunity to relax and pamper yourself after workshops, parties and all the dancing!
